You can decode a ProRes RAW file, grade it, and render the result as ProRes 422, ProRes 4444, DNxHR, or H.264, but you cannot render a new ProRes RAW file out of Resolve. ### Which cameras and recorders shoot ProRes RAW? Panasonic's Lumix GH7 and S1RII record it internally, Nikon's Z6III and ZR record it alongside N-RAW, Blackmagic's Pocket Cinema Camera 4K gained it through the Camera 9.8 firmware update, DJI's Inspire 3 supports it as a licensed add-on, and Apple's iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max can shoot it to an external SSD. Older and lower-end cameras that lack internal support, including many Panasonic and Sony hybrids, can still output RAW over HDMI to an Atomos recorder like the Ninja V, which writes the ProRes RAW file instead. ### Why won't DaVinci Resolve import or play my ProRes RAW file? The most common reason is simply running a Resolve version older than 20.2, which has no ProRes RAW decoder at all, so check Help > About DaVinci Resolve first. If Resolve sees the file but stutters on playback, the usual fix is lowering Camera Raw decode quality in Project Settings, turning on Optimized Media for the RAW clips, and adding Smart render cache on top. A GPU below Blackmagic's minimum spec, meaning less than 2GB of VRAM or no OpenCL 1.2 or CUDA support, will also block smooth RAW playback no matter which Resolve version you're running. ## Sources -
